Over the weekend we went to Oamaru, which is a town in the northern coastal part of Otago, or the southern east coast of the South Island of New Zealand. Oamaru is an interesting little town, with a strong victorian architectural influence and feel. The town also embraces the steampunk culture; a sci-fi genre which incorporates steam powered machinery from the 19th century.
The weather wasn’t great, but between the local brewery and whiskey tasting shop, we had excellent choices for food and drink, and the Steampunk HQ entertained us while it was raining.
